When you walk up to the hill of Kundadri Hills, you’ll be mesmerized by the ancient and beautiful Temple with Jain architecture. You guessed it right, with the beauty of the dense evergreen forests surrounding, you can also witness the timelessness of the Jain temple built in the 17th century dedicated to Tirthankara. Kundadri Hill is a gigantic monolithic rock formation.
Although Kundadri is a haven for trekkers and Hikers with a 7 km long (about 3 hrs) trekking destination, the Hills top can be reached on your vehicle. The trek makes it interesting with narrow and rough paths through water streams and captivating views.
Road conditioning and connectivity:
Public transport is available only to the main Towns like Agumbe, Kundadri, and Shimoga. The last 15 km distance to the hill can be covered either by Trek or Car. Roads are narrow, and steep, with multiple hairpin bends. Not recommended for inexperienced drivers.
Kundadri is a remote place with no people or facilities. It’s a good plan to return to the nearest town before nightfall. Accessible Hotels and homestays are only in Agumbe, Thirthahalli, and Shivamogga.
Distance from:
Kundadri Ghat to Hilltop – 400 m
Shimoga – 89 km
Chikamagalur – 110.6 km (via Balehonnur)
Mangalore – 123.2 km
Bangalore – 347.2 km
