One of the reasons for Coorg’s to gradually evolve into the most popular tourist spot is this place. Abundant with lush trails teeming with birds, dragonflies, and butterflies, this valley is situated in the luxuriant forest of Pushpagiri. This peak offers a panoramic view overlooking the valleys, hills, and forest, situated 4050 ft (1600 m) above sea level.

How to reach the HillTop:

To reach the hilltop, one can either hire a jeep or trek through the beautiful terrains of Mandalpatti Peak. You can take your car to the parking area of the peak. You can take your car to the parking area of the Mandalpatti peak. However, don’t forget to leave your own vehicle at the base – as the terrain is best tackled in a sturdy jeep. Jeeps take visitors to just below the peak of Mandalpatti, where a short trek of about 1 kilometer leads to the viewpoint. The jeep ride is about 4 km off-road and takes about 35–40 minutes. The last 4 km is a total off-roading with bumpy roads and is not recommended for elders, people with back pain, or pregnant women. 

While several people can sit, the price for the ride is charged based on “per jeep” and “not per person”. Whether you’re a solo traveler or a group, expect a cost of around 1500 – 2500 rupees (depending on the day of the week) for the jeep. Mandalpatti Peak is on the same as Abbey Falls. However, you need to take a deviation to the left, 4 km before Abbey Falls. 

Shops & Eateries:

There are small shops near Mandalpatti forest check post. But there are no shops or eateries at the peak of the hill. Hence, it’s advised to carry your food, water, and shelter. This is a NO- Plastic Zone, so all disposable plastic bottles, chips and biscuits will be taken away at the entrance.However, you can carry food and water to the hilltop in other containers which are not plastic.

Clothing and Safety:

As it is Hilltop, it is expected to be breezy, windy and cold. Be it early morning or during the sun set, the weather here can be called moody. Hence it is advice to carry your jackets to the peak, along with your food and water. The Rest room facility here is very dirty.
