Overview

As the world knows, Talakaveri or Talacauvery is the Ugamasthan of Kaveri Nadi which means “Birthplace of River Kaveri ”. Located amidst the lush greenery of Brahmagiri Hills in Bhagamandala, Talakaveri is considered to be a holy place of pilgrimage for many, situated at an height of 1,276 meters above sea level.

As you begin to drive towards this holy birthplace of the River Kaveri,  the path leading to it somehow immediately connects you with nature, helping you stay in a divine state of mind throughout the journey. The mesmerizing feeling about the place never leaves your mind. The wild forests, tall lush greenery trees and the elevated view of Coffee estates surround you everywhere. The feeling is completely Enigmatic.

Brahma Kundike or Tirth Kundike (Holy Spring & Tank)

Inside this huge temple, there is this small rectangular-shaped tank which is considered to be the exact spot of the birthplace of River Kaveri. This is the point from where the River Cauvery emerges as a spring, fills Brahma Kundike, and disappears underground, emerging again at ‘Sangam’ a few kilometers away from Brahma Kundike, where it meets two other rivers. In front of this Brahma Kundike, there’s a beautiful small shrine of a silver Shivalinga. It is believed that every year during the special festival on Sankramana day, Brahma Kundike is filled with a fresh spring of the River Cauvery.
